The TSS Rugby World Cup Tour of Japan.... departing soon.
Some final points;
We are in the final stages of Tour arrangements and I have a couple of very quick points that need addressing;
1. DIETARY REQUIREMENTS: Our Tour liaison in Japan is arrangement with hotels and restaurant our meals, and needs to know asap any students that have dietary needs. I know we have a couple of student, but could all with a dietary need, please confirm exactly what it is, so I can collate a list and send to him by the weeks end? URGENT REPLY please if your son has requirements…
2. FINAL MEETING to outline Tour arrangements, safety briefing and hand out clothing. This will be held in the Hall of Fame on Thursday 12th September at 6pm. Students compulsory, parents welcome. For boarding parents, unfortunately at this stage a ‘live feed’ isn’t possible, but I will be emailing out all information and Powerpoint presentations prior to the meeting so your son can bring up any questions you may have.
3. IMPORTANT MEDICATION RESTRICTIONS: Some medication including the stimulant dexamphetamine (used to treat ADHD) and pseudoephedrine (found in some cold and flu tablets) are banned in Japan. You could be detained if found with them. For others, such as narcotic medication (codeine, morphine and oxycodone), you must apply for a Narcotic Certificate. If you don't have this certificate when entering Japan, the medicine may be confiscated. So if any of the boys do take any injections or drugs of any kind direct their parents to seek medical and consular advice regarding taking them into Japan https://www.au.emb-japan.go.jp/itpr_en/visa_medicine_en.html
4. PASSPORTS – We are still missing a number of passports. If your son hasn’t handed his in as yet to Shiv in the Sports Office or myself, could they do this asap.
5. DOWNLANDS MATCHES – be aware that potentially, this touring party will NOT participate in the Downlands matches on the final weekend of this term. There are a number of concerns here, but predominately we would rather ensure no student is injured at least two week prior to leaving for Japan. All ‘Tourists’ will play their last match v Ipswich on 7 September. There will of course be training for the Touring Team during that two week period. More on that later…
In coming week’s I will send out some more Tour information…. If you have any queries, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Ian Browne
